Jesse Gibbs
Jesse Gibbs joined the faculty as the Director of Bands at Gray Middle School in the summer of 2019. Mr. Gibbs is an accomplished educator whose primary mission is to share the joy of music through teaching and learning. In the classroom, he previously has served as General Music Teacher at Burlington Elementary offering musical experiences such as Choir, Honor Choir, 3rd Grade Musical, and Ukulele Club. He served as Interim Band Director at Lloyd High School and Tichenor Middle School. He was the Assistant Band Director/General Music Teacher Grades 5-8 at Maurice Bowling Middle School in Owen County where he taught general music, assisted with all bands, and was in charge of the Owen County High School Jazz Band. He was the Director of Bands/General Music Teacher K-12 at Silver Grove Schools where his students participated in Northern Kentucky Select Band, NKU TriState Band Symposium, and Music in the Parks Festival at Kings Island. Mr. Gibbs also has extensive band experience outside of the classroom. He currently serves as Assistant Marching Band Director at Ryle High School. He assisted in Ryle making Class 5A State Finals in 2019 and as Marching Band Instructor in 2017. He was the Director of the Ryle Jazz Lab Band. He was a Marching Band Instructor at Beechwood High School assisting in making Class 1A State Finals from 2011-2016 and achieving multiple Class 1A State Championships, and a 2011 Class A BOA Grand National Championship. He was the Assistant Marching Band Director at Highlands High School, and served as Marching Band Instructor at Campbell County High School and Goshen High School.
Mr. Gibbs received his Bachelor’s Degree In Music Education from Northern Kentucky University and received his Master’s Degree in Education:Teacher as Leader also from Northern Kentucky University. Mr. Gibbs’ performance experience includes performing gigs locally, Fillmore Wind Band, NKU Symphonic Winds, and NKU Jazz Ensemble. He is a graduate of Goshen High School in Goshen, Ohio and currently resides in Florence, Kentucky with his wife Michelle and his two daughters, Emily and Molly.
